policies

I do not provide piercings to anyone under the age of 16.

Ages 16-17: Parent/guardian must be present.

All minors (under 18): Parent/guardian must provide valid photo ID and minor's birth certificate.

According to Arkansas Law, if a person is under 18 years old, their parent or legal guardian must provide a valid photo ID and the minor's birth certificate. If the minor has been adopted or has a legal guardian, documents confirming this can be accepted in place of a birth certificate.

By scheduling a piercing appointment at Inked by Erika for a minor,  I acknowledge that inked by Eriks has the right to reschedule or cancel the appointment if the child is not ready or willing to proceed.

AGE RESTRICTIONS + MINOR PIERCING POLICIES

I prioritize customer satisfaction and aim to provide the best possible experience. The following outlines our return policy for jewelry purchases.

BROKEN OR FAULTY JEWELRY:

I offer exchanges for faulty/broken jewelry if purchased within 2 months of the current date

I do not offer refunds on used jewelry. However, we consider special circumstances for faulty items. In such cases, our staff and jeweler will assess the situation and determine appropriate solutions.

I encourage customers to inspect jewelry upon purchase and report any issues immediately. Your satisfaction matters to me, and I will work diligently to resolve any concerns.

LOST JEWELRY:

My jewelry features an internally threaded mechanism for secure fitting. However, it may loosen during normal activities. I recommend regularly checking the tightness of your jewelry. If an item is lost within three days of purchase due to loosening, I will provide a replacement. After this period, customers are responsible for the full replacement cost.

return/exchange policy for jewelry

All cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Failure to do so will result in a $50 cancellation fee

Cancellations

A valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID or passport is required for every appointment.

For clients under 18 years of age, Arkansas law requires a parent or legal guardian to provide their own valid photo ID along with the minor's birth certificate that lists the parent/guardian. Adoption or legal guardianship documents may be accepted instead of a birth certificate.

pre-appointment

prepare

THE DAY BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

- Get enough rest: Sleep at least 7 to 8 hours so your body can handle the new piercing.

- Avoid alcohol: Do not drink any alcohol. It can thin your blood and make the piercing bleed more.

- Skip blood thinners: Do not take medicines like aspirin or ibuprofen

next - aftercare

THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:

- Eat a good meal: Have a balanced meal 3 to 4 hours before your visit. This keeps your blood sugar steady so you do not feel dizzy or faint.

- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

- Avoid caffeine: Skip coffee or energy drinks before you go.

- Wear comfortable clothes: Pick loose, soft clothes that will not rub or push on the piercing.

- Bring your ID. If you are under 18, please make sure your parent/guardian brings your birth certificate (or other legal documentation if you are adopted or have a legal guardian) and their own ID as well, so we can verify their identity.

1: CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

- Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the pierced area.

- Use the saline solution recommended by your piercer or a mild, fragrance-free liquid soap to clean the piercing.

- Clean the pierced area gently twice daily, preferably morning and evening.

- Rinse the piercing with warm water to remove any residue.

2. AVOID IRRITANTS

- Refrain from touching or twisting the jewelry unless necessary for cleaning.

- Do not use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, betadine, or any other harsh chemicals on the piercing.

- Stay out of pools, hot tubs, or natural bodies of water until the piercing is fully healed.

Prevent submerging the piercing in soaps, shampoos, or other hair products while washing.

3. JEWELRY CARE

- Keep the initial jewelry provided by your piercer in place for the entire recommended healing period.

- If your piercing requires a jewelry change, consult with your piercer for guidance on appropriate options.

- Ensure your jewelry remains secure and properly tightened to prevent accidental loss.

STEPS 5-7

4. HEALING TIME

Healing times vary by piercing type and location. Please refer to the specific aftercare instruction sheet provided by your piercer for expected healing times.

Be patient and allow your body sufficient time to heal naturally. Avoid premature removal or changing of jewelry.

5. SIGNS OF INFECTION

Some redness, swelling, and mild discomfort are normal during the initial healing period.

If you notice excessive swelling, persistent pain, heat, pus, or any other signs of infection, seek medical attention immediately.

- Do not remove the jewelry before consulting a healthcare professional.

6. GENERAL HEALTH + HYGIENE

- A healthy lifestyle, including balanced diet and regular exercise, supports your body's healing process.

- Avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, as these can impede healing.

- Maintain good personal hygiene to prevent introduction of bacteria to the piercing site.

- If additional swelling or irritation occurs, use a sea-salt soak instead of saline solution.

- Schedule and attend all recommended follow-up appointments with your piercer to ensure proper healing.

-  Contact your piercer with any concerns or questions throughout the healing process.

PLEASE NOTE:

Please note that failure to follow these aftercare instructions may result in complications, including prolonged healing time, infection, or even loss of your piercing. For any questions or further assistance, please contact me at Inked by Erika . For additional questions or concerns, contact your doctor or the Oklahoma Health Department.

By receiving a piercing from Inked by Erika , you acknowledge that you have read and understood these aftercare instructions and agree to follow them accordingly. We wish you a smooth healing process and appreciate your business.

Frequently asked questions

For the best piercing experience, I require all jewelry used to pierce be purchased from my shop. By doing so, I'm able to maintain a high standard of quality and reduce the risk of irritation or infection.

Once your piercing has healed, I'm more than happy to assist you in changing out your jewelry with pieces, even if they have not been purchased at my shop.

The minimum age I’ll accept is 16 years of age. But the minor must have their birth certificate, and one of their parents on their birth certificate present during the entire procedure.

A valid government-issued photo ID is mandatory.

If you are under 18 years old, additional documentation will be needed. You must have your birth certificate as well as one of the parents on your birth certificate present. The parent(s) will need their ID as well, as I will verify their identity. I will not accept any other guardian other than who is on the birth certificate.

For clients under 18 years old, we require them to be accompanied by their legal parent/guardian and present a valid birth certificate. If the minor has been adopted or has a legal guardian, documents confirming this can be accepted in place of a birth certificate.

The parent/guardian must also provide a government-issued ID, as we will verify their identity.

No, never! I prioritize your safety and comfort at all times. Unlike piercing guns that can cause unnecessary trauma to the ear, I use single-use needles, sterilized piercing tools, and 14k-gold jewelry for a gentle and hygienic piercing experience.

I provide an aftercare bag and a comprehensive set of guidelines to follow. You can review the aftercare instructions here, and they will be given to you again after your appointment as well
